Learn the basics of the coding and wiring that it takes to create artificial intelligence that can move and react to the world around it. Campers will take home their own robot! 

Clay Creations

Get you hands dirty learning to make pottery and sculpture. Learn a variety of clay techniques and then design and make your very own masterpiece to be fired in our kiln. Pick up for ceramic pieces will be 4-6 weeks after camp.

To quote Brick from Anchorman, “I love lamp.” Over the course of this camp learn how to solder, and wire in a switch; laser cut a wooden base, sand, stain, and assemble it using proper woodworking techniques. Next, it’s time to decorate the shade with watercolor and printmaking techniques; then put the whole thing together and take it home to brighten up your life!

3D Print and Laser

A big part of what we do here at The Innovation Hub is make products for people on our 3D printers and laser cutters. Now you can learn how to use these same machines that our production staff use on a daily basis! Learn 3D modeling and sculpting, and how to print them on our 3D printers. Create specialized vector graphics and run them on our laser cutters. Learn how to get a design from your mind into your hands!

T-shirt Design

Design like the pros.  Learn to organize your thoughts through influences, colors, and fonts.  Use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to bring your ideas to life. Then, fabricate something unique to take home with digital fabrication tools like the laser cutter.

Art Apprenticeship Program | June 3- August 2

Ages 13-18 can apply for an intensive summer apprenticeship focused on learning studio management and art techniques in a fun, creative, and collaborative space. Interested participants will receive a google form that must be completed in order to be considered for an interview. We will review all applications and respond by May 27, 2019.

10 apprentices accepted.

Cost: $200 material fee covers all 8 weeks

Choose one or two focus areas for the entire 8 week program.  Then, work with the Art Team at the Hub to practice real world art jobs, while learning how to use the Hub’s equipment to develop your own art ideas and portfolio.  Students will have up to 10 hours of scheduled projects per week within their focus area(s) and should spend 5 or more hours developing personal designs and ideas. Schedules will be established individually with each accepted apprentice and all apprentices are able to use studios between the hours of 9am and 5pm throughout the 8 weeks.

Focus Areas:

Screen printing

Screen printing apprentices will learn hands on studio skills for setting up screens, printing t-shirts, and managing the studio areas.

Ceramics

Apprentices in the ceramics studio will learn how to manage and reclaim clay, use the pottery wheel, load and fire the electric kiln, and assist with summer camp projects.

Graphic Design & Digital Fabrication

Graphic Design & Digital Fabrication apprentices will learn to take client needs and create designs like flyers, facebook ads, laser cut signs, logos, and t-shirt designs.

Media & Photography

Apprentices in media & photography will learn how to capture activities through photos and video and learn how to set up shots for specific media content, take action shots around the Hub, and use Adobe Photoshop to edit and create content for social media platforms and more.  

iZoo – When Technology Meets Nature |  A Partner Camp with the Little Rock Zoo

Campers (ages 12-13) will explore the Little Rock Zoo as they learn about how technology is used to care for and conserve nature. Students will also learn to use some incredible technology brought in from the Arkansas Innovation Hub as they gain hands-on experience.
