It’s back! We are so excited to have Diamond State Woodturners teach this incredible two-day class. Trust us, you are in for a world-class woodturning experience. Ready for even better news? No experience is needed! Jump into our woodshop and explore the world of turning wood on a lathe. You will walk away from this class with a multitude of knowledge and several finished pieces that you can take home and enjoy for years to come such as a wooden pen, bowls, and other household items. Wheel Throwing 102

Now that you’re comfortable throwing vessels on the wheel, it’s time to learn how to make a series of works and explore forms that represent your unique style as a potter. Find your inspiration and channel it into your very own set of cups or bowls! Learn how potters turn their craft into an efficient and marketable career, or just have fun making your own set of matching dishes. Participants will be working on repeating the same forms while refining their trimming and handle-attaching skills.

Pen Turning

Imagine those gorgeous wooden pens, now sign up to make your very own! Thanks to our friends at Diamond State Woodturners, our lathes and instruction are top-notch. Each participant will have access to an individual lathe, appropriate safety equipment, necessary turning tools, and an experienced mentor in constant attendance. Success with safety is the primary concern of the instructor and assistants.

Laser - Try It!

In this introductory workshop you’ll learn how to prepare a vector graphic image for the laser printers at the Hub and how to operate the machines safely. The laser cutter can be used to cut or engrave a variety of materials including wood, paper, fabric, leather, craft foam, stone, tile, glass, cork, and acrylic. Walk away with knowledge that will inspire future projects and a laser printed project to take with you!

Photography for Beginners

Whether you’re a hobbyist or just looking to improve your photography skills, this workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to take their photos to the next level! In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn the fundamentals of digital photography and how to take stunning photos using DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Our instructor will cover the basics of camera settings, such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, and how they impact exposure. You will learn composition rules, how to use natural light to create beautiful photos, and post-processing tips and tricks that will make your shots stand out from the rest.  We encourage you to bring your own DSLR/mirrorless camera if you have one, otherwise, we will provide one for you. Sign up now and take the first step towards capturing the world through your lens!

It’s your turn to come and try our ceramic studio and enjoy one of our most popular workshops. Join our experienced team as we teach you how to create a custom piece of your very own. This is a great entry point into learning the basic concepts of working with clay and exploring hand-building techniques.  If you discover your love for mud, consider signing up for Handbuilding 101 to get a comprehensive introduction to get you ready to become a clay enthusiast for life! Refund policies for our classes and workshops: Due to the diverse number of classes, workshops, summer camps, and field trips we offer, we have created a cancellation policy that gives us an opportunity to fill our schedule. You may cancel by phone or by sending an email to education@arhub.org. If you have to cancel your upcoming class, private instruction session, workshop, field trip, or summer camp registration, refunds will be given as follows: Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund, cancellations made 15-30 days in advance of the event date will receive a 50% refund, cancellations made 0-14 days within the event date will not receive any type of refund.
