Everyone will enjoy creating a custom ceramic sculpture and a variety of decorating techniques. Students will use stamps and other objects to create textures and designs on clay. They will enjoy attaching decorative and functional elements that transform their clay projects into unique works of art.

Trust us, this is taking watercolor to a whole new level! Students will see art and science combined as they make their own watercolor paint using different materials. They will leave with a painting that showcases their custom color palette. This is a perfect opportunity for fun hands-on art and science time makerspace style!

Create your own story with Light and Shadow Theaters!

Inspired by the total solar eclipse experienced on April 8th, The Innovation Hub is thrilled to share the science and sheer awe behind that natural phenomenon through shadow play! Using our custom-built light and shadow theaters, students will experiment with the relationship and movement between light and shadow. Participants of all ages will enjoy arranging props with different opacities on turntables to make their own imaginative story to share with their peers!

Welcome to Scratch! Are you ready to introduce your students to the concept of digital storytelling? Book this experience to watch your students take their creativity to a whole new level. This interactive software teaches coding language that is easy to use and will have your students animating, and creating games and digital stories as fast as you can say Ghostbusters! Thanks to our partner, The Scratch Foundation, for making it possible to introduce this software to students. Get ready to stand in awe.

Attention! Attention! Do you have a group of students who enjoy being creative and working on a computer? Check out this incredible graphic design opportunity. Watch as your students learn to draw, paint, and layer fascinating digital images using a variety of brushes and textures to create their custom digital paintings. Students will be using technology that professional graphic artists and designers use to create their work in the real world. The digital files they create can be saved and printed to enjoy for years to come!

Ready to get your hands dirty? Students will enjoy learning the science of color and how to tie-dye a t-shirt or bandana. This is not your average backyard tie-dye experience! Let’s explore the science of color and learn from tie-dying experts as we create incredible swirls and designs. Each student will create their own colorful, wearable art and walk away with ideas for their next color adventure.

Vector who? Laser engrave what? What sorcery is this!? Vector art is composed of computer-generated points, lines, and shapes that are used to create logos and artwork. I this field trip, students will turn their ideas into artwork that can be used for a variety of purposes including laser engraving on wood or even screen printing onto t-shirts.

Are you having a hard time deciding between all of our choices? Problem solved! We’ve combined all of our most popular field trips into one amazing Hub experience for large groups.  All students will experience several Art & Make activities of the Innovation Hub, including paper circuits, screen printing, lego spikes, and clay. Students will leave with fun hand-made items to take home! Available for booking Wednesday from September through May for groups of 30-100 students and we require 6 chaperones if we have a group of 75 or more.

Refund policies for our classes and workshops: Due to the diverse number of classes, workshops, summer camps, and field trips we offer, we have created a cancellation policy that gives us an opportunity to fill our schedule. You may cancel by phone or by sending an email to education@arhub.org. If you have to cancel your upcoming class, private instruction session, workshop, field trip, or summer camp registration, refunds will be given as follows: Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund, cancellations made 15-30 days in advance of the event date will receive a 50% refund, cancellations made 0-14 days within the event date will not receive any type of refund.
